Private, one-on-one water-safety lessons in your own pool, at your swimmer’s pace, led by founder Cortney Berry and cofounder Anson.

Every swimmer learns differently. For children, teens and adults with autism (ASD), ADHD, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy, a quick-fix program or a new face each week can make the water feel harder, not easier. At Safe Swimming School, you get experienced, consistent instruction in a familiar place, building real skills over time.

Why families choose Safe Swimming School

  • Led by our founders. Founder Cortney Berry, with 20 years of experience, and cofounder Anson, with 18 years of experience, teach and lead our instructors. You know who’s in the water with your child.
  • A consistent instructor. We try to keep the same instructor with each student from lesson to lesson. If your instructor is unavailable, we’ll offer a substitute or a reschedule.
  • Your own pool. Lessons happen at your home or community pool, where the setting is already familiar, without crowds or travel.
  • Truly one-on-one. Every minute is focused on your swimmer.
  • At your swimmer’s pace. We move forward when your swimmer is ready, not on a calendar.
  • Experience you can ask about directly. Before the first lesson, you can talk with us about your child’s needs and who will teach them.

What lessons can look like

Every plan is individual. Depending on your swimmer, lessons may include:

  • Getting comfortable with the water, including a wet face and bubbles
  • Calm breathing and staying relaxed
  • Rolling to the back float, a safer position to rest and breathe
  • Building toward independent swimming skills, step by step
  • Lessons structured around your swimmer’s specific needs. For example, we may adjust the pace, the routine or how often we take breaks

Parents are welcome to watch and are encouraged to share what works for their swimmer at home.

FAQ

Do you work with children who have autism, ADHD, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy?

Yes. Our cofounder, Anson, has hands-on experience teaching swimmers with autism (ASD), ADHD, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy. Every lesson is one-on-one and adjusted to the swimmer, and we’ll talk about your child’s needs before the first lesson.

Where do lessons take place?

In your own pool, at home or in your community/HOA pool.

Who will teach my child?

One of our instructors, led by founder Cortney Berry and cofounder Anson. We try to keep the same instructor for your child every time. If that instructor is unavailable, we’ll offer a substitute or a reschedule.

How long until my child can swim?

It depends on the swimmer. We don’t promise results in a set number of days. Skills that hold up take repetition, and we build them at your swimmer’s pace.

Will lessons make my child water-safe?

Lessons build important water-safety skills, but no lesson makes anyone drown-proof. Always keep active adult supervision, pool barriers and other layers of protection in place.

Can adults or teens take adaptive lessons?

Yes. Adaptive lessons are available for teens and adults as well as children.

What should I tell you before the first lesson?

Anything that helps: communication preferences, triggers, comfort items, medical considerations, and what has or hasn’t worked before.

How much do lessons cost?

8 lessons for $520, 12 for $720, or 20 for $1,100, plus a $35 annual registration fee.
